This policy explains what personal data [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] ("Cool Mountain", "we") processes through coolmt.com and email, and how we use it. In short: this site has no accounts, forms or analytics tools. Some pages may show Google ads, as explained below.
Who is responsible
The data controller is [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS]. Contact: [email protected].
This is an English translation of the Indonesian version of this page.
When you visit the site
This site does not use analytics tools and does not ask you to create an account or fill in forms. Apart from the ads described under Ads and cookies, we do not use tracking cookies. When you pick a language with the ID/EN switcher, a "lang" cookie stores your choice on your device for up to one year so the site can show that language next time; it is not used for tracking. The "Share" button on mountain pages only opens your device's built-in sharing feature or plain links to WhatsApp, Telegram and X; no third-party scripts are loaded.
To choose the default language for visitors who have not picked one, our server reads the country code that Cloudflare derives from your IP address (Indonesia → Indonesian, elsewhere → English). We do not store it.
The site is delivered through Cloudflare as a content delivery network and security provider. To deliver pages and protect the site from abuse, Cloudflare processes technical data such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, and may set strictly necessary security cookies. Our server may also keep short-term technical logs for security and troubleshooting. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Ads and cookies
Pages on coolmt.com, including the mountain weather section, may show ads from Google AdSense. When ads are shown:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Google and its partners may also use web beacons and similar technologies, and process data such as IP address, device and browser information, and the pages you view, to show, measure and protect ads.
Learn more at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google in Google Ads Settings, and opt out of some other vendors' use of cookies at www.aboutads.info/choices or, in Europe, www.youronlinechoices.eu. If you opt out, you may still see non-personalised ads.
Where the law requires consent for advertising cookies (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), ads will only use those cookies according to the choices you make in the consent message shown on the site.
Mountain weather section
The mountain weather pages at /gunung/ are built on our server from MET Norway forecast data (CC BY 4.0), mountain data from Wikidata and OpenStreetMap, and official information from national park managers. Your browser does not contact those providers when you open a page, and the weather section does not collect any personal data from you. The only data processed is technical data and, when ads are shown, advertising data as described above.
When you send us an email
If you email us, we receive your email address, name and the content of your message. We only use it to reply and, where relevant, to correct data on the site. Our email is forwarded via Cloudflare Email Routing to our email provider's inbox.
Legal basis
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries and running the site securely, compliance with legal obligations, and your consent to advertising cookies where required.
Retention
We keep enquiry emails for as long as needed to handle them, then delete them. Technical server logs are kept for a short period.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data, to object to processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. To make a request, email [email protected].
Changes
We will update this policy when our practices change, for example if we start or stop showing ads. The effective date above shows the latest update.
