7 little-discussed mountains below 2,000 m, with route, weather and SIMAKSI data
This list contains small mountains and hills that are rarely discussed online, selected by written rules, not taste. All figures come from the open sources listed; where data is missing we write "no verified data yet".
Selection rules
Summit below 2,000 m, with the elevation cross-checked between the OpenStreetMap tag, Wikidata and the Copernicus GLO-30 elevation model. Where only the DEM is available, we flag it.
A hiking route or trailhead is mapped in OpenStreetMap.
"Little-discussed": no Indonesian Wikipedia article, or the article averages fewer than 200 views per month (October 2025–September 2026). For comparison, the Gunung Papandayan article averaged ± 2,150 views per month over the same period.
Mountains whose trails media reports describe as closed indefinitely are not included, even if we could not verify an official announcement.
Note: the list is currently dominated by West Java (Jawa Barat, Lampung) because that is where hiking routes in OpenStreetMap are most complete. "Small" and "little-discussed" do not mean easy or safe: trails can be steep, quiet and poorly marked. Always report to local residents or the manager, do not hike alone, and check the weather and trail status before you go.
